Brazil Wins the 8th Edition of the Ernesto Illy International Coffee Award – CoffeeTalk

Brazil has won the Best of the Best Award at the 8th edition of the Ernesto Illy International Coffee Award, presented to Josè Eduardo Dominicale by illycaffè Chairman Andrea Illy. The award celebrates the company’s 30-year partnership with coffee farmers to offer sustainable coffee. The award was awarded to Brazil’s São Mateus Agropecuaria, while Guatemala’s Finca Danilandia di Luis Arimany Mondonico won the Coffee Lovers’ Choice Award.

The panel of experts evaluated the best batches from the 2022-2023 harvest through blind tastings of nine coffees from the finalist countries. Each batch was rated in terms of richness, aromatic complexity, flavor elegance, and aroma intensity. The jury also recognized Guatemala’s Finca Danilandia di Luis Arimany Mondonico for its regenerative agriculture coffee.

The award was attended by celebrities such as Matilda De Angelis, Pat Cleveland, Coco Rocha, Candela Pelizza, Tamu Mc Pherson, Carlo Sestini, Simon and Marina Ksandr, Nick Lowry, and Tesa Pesic. The event provided networking opportunities for all involved in the coffee industry, including producers, exporters, traders, and institutional representatives.
