Actor Michael Imperioli Opens Upper West Side Bar

Whether you know him from White Lotus, or the Sopranos, actor Michael Imperioli and his wife, Victoria Imperioli, have opened Scarlet, a bar and restaurant at 468 Amsterdam at the corner of West 83rd Street, on the Upper West Side.

The duo has teamed up with restaurateur Jeremy Wladis (Good Enough To Eat, Harvest Kitchen, Nina’s Great Burrito Bar, and Fred’s) for the new venture.

“Victoria and I are thrilled to be bringing to the Upper West Side the distinctive vibe and mood that made our previous lounge, Ciel Rouge, so beloved by the denizens of downtown NYC,” says Imperioli. “Scarlet offers an elegant and transportive atmosphere…. and a certain magic that only Victoria can create.“ Victoria shaped the interior design, with its red hues and “French wartime” vibe.

Of course, there will be a cocktail named the White Lotus, a clarified punch of Don Q Cristal rum, pineapple, yuzu, coconut sugar, and Champagne. Head bartender Matt Burkhardt has also created original drinks like the Pisco Pink Panther alongside classics like the French 75. Look for lollipop lamb chops au jus with basil pistou and foie gras torchon among snacks. Drinks are $20 to $24 while food is $13 to $25. No nod to the Sopranos, the show that gave Imperioli his breakout as the character Christopher Moltisanti, appears to be on the menu.

This isn’t the first time the couple has opened a bar. Back in the early aughts, they opened Chelsea’s Ciel Rouge, a speakeasy-style lounge. The couple lived above that bar, which also had a scarlet glow, according to the New York Times. Here, Imperioli oversaw the room dressed in an Italian wool suit, pouring a Remy Martin into a snifter, and lighting a Winston, as he recalled his week’s work to the publication. Back then, it was the fourth season of the Sopranos, and was directing commercials for Off Track Betting; It turns out he loves horses.

These days, the couple does not drink, but a spokesman notes they love bar culture. And though Imperioli is also a vegetarian, the menu includes meat.

The next White Lotus allegedly airs in 2025; the actor is currently filming the next season of American Horror Stories, which was recently filmed in Hoboken at Elysian Cafe in Hoboken.

Scarlet is open Monday through Thursday from 5 to 11 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 2 a.m., and Sunday 5 to 10 p.m. It’s walk-in only.
